Isabela Morales
Education and Exhibit Manager
Isabela Morales is an award-winning historian of slavery and emancipation. She received her Ph.D. in history from Princeton University in 2019, and is the author of Happy Dreams of Liberty: An American Family in Slavery and Freedom, winner of the Huntington Library's 2023 Shapiro Book Prize. Prior to joining SSAAM's team, she worked as the Manager of Exhibition Development at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in NYC. Isabela has been involved in the Princeton & Slavery Project, an investigation of Princeton University's historical ties to the institution of slavery and ongoing legacies of institutional racism, since 2013. She currently serves as the project's Editor and Project Manager.
