"Black History in the Sourland Mountains”
at Hunterdon County Library
Saturday, February 21 from 2 PM - 3:30 PM
189 Hollow Rd., Skillman, NJ 08558
Join SSAAM for a free, in-person program exploring the often untold history of African Americans in the Sourland Mountains. Learn how formerly enslaved people built lasting communities in New Jersey—once known as the “Slave State of the North”—and shaped a legacy of resilience and freedom.
Through stories connected to places like Stoutsburg Cemetery and Mt. Zion AME Church, this program highlights local Black history that continues to inform and inspire today.
This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Hunterdon County Library (FOHCL).
